about

‘Powerlines’ is a lyrical beauty from the heart.
A Celtic sway that takes the listener to a place of reflection, yearning, hope, and love.
The musical arrangements are technically superb and bring a sense of joy that calls you to dance.
Stewart Garrett’s stylish piano and percussion intertwine with Peter O’Shea’s violin and mandolin, lifting Viki Mealings’ words, voice and guitar above the powerlines and into the sky of your mind.
All the while Brendan Henriques keeps time with his bass adding a depth to the song, tying it all together.
The stars are high for this song, to be heard by all and appreciated for its honesty, beauty, strength and wonder.
Elizabeth Lish Škec

lyrics

I shout into the void
When the stars are high
And the magpie’s voice
Consoles me
I won’t fall
I won’t fall
I won’t fall
Darkness fades into the rising of the sun
Oh yeah
Is anyone really where they wanna be
I don’t know, maybe
Is anyone really where they thought they’d be
I don’t think so

And oh how I wonder
How it feels to fly over power lines
Are there oceans out there beyond the sky
And I can still remember
As a child chasing waves as the tide came in
I learned we all need someone to hold

I found a solitary crow and tried to follow him
‘Cos I’m still waiting for a falling star
He flies away
He flies away
He flies away
Towards the sunset while I chase after the wind Oh yeah
Is anyone really happy I’d like to be
Is anyone really happy I try to be

And oh how I wonder
How it feels to fly over power lines
Are there oceans out there beyond the sky And I can still remember
As a child chasing waves as the tide came in I learned we all need someone to hold
